wedding season is upon us. the blossoms have budded & bloomed, the weather is warming up, the days are getting longer & that means that soon, your fridge will be filled with wedding announcements & your weekends will be spent reception hopping (well, if you're in utah, that is). but for some of you, it's finally your turn to get all dressed up, go to a special location with the one you love & take pictures to put on that announcement on aunt fannie's fridge. YOU'RE ENGAGED & THAT'S THE BEST THING EVER!!

today, i want to share 5 of my best tips for having happy engagement photos! (don't be that couple that looks uncomfy or unhappy!!)

1. it's okay to kiss & love on your fiance
i know that it's a little awkward to kiss in front of your photographer, but trust me when i say that we're professional third wheels & kissing just doesn't even phase us. we want to show people that you're in love & the only way we can do that is if YOU act like you're in love. (which should be easy because you ARE in love!!)

2. fill in the gap
i always tell my couples at the beginning of my sessions that i want them to always be close to each other-- unless i tell them differently. again, i'm a professional third wheel & PDA doesn't phase me, so get hip to hip & fill in the gap between you & your love.

3. be yourselves + be silly
i ask my couples to do tickle wars, dance, i tell my grooms to pick up their bride & spin her around. it's OKAY to have fun. it's OKAY to do things that make you laugh. because laughing & happiness is super good when it comes to marriage & love.

4. laugh & laugh a lot

5. enjoy the session
even if the weather turns crappy or something goes wrong (because something always goes wrong, amiright?) just enjoy your session. enjoy taking your engagement photos with the love of your life because this never happens again. this is a time to cherish. don't stress but just enjoy it.

what tips would you add for having a happy engagement photos?

wednesday letter. going full-time + Little Loves

so as most of you know, parker & i moved to salt lake. we are so, so, so grateful to be here & for this opportunity to live with my sweet grandmother. we care about her & her privacy so our adventures with her & experiences with her will not be shared on my blog or social media.

parker works for boostability & is loving it. it's been a great job change & the company treats their employees so well. we are so grateful. he's been working really hard & comes home happy every day so i am so glad that he has found a job that he loves. we're really lucky.

i currently work for bell photographers as a school photographer. we're at different locations every day, so it keeps things interesting, but it's a blast & i love the people that i work with. it's really busy & a little stressful at times, but it's a great job.

i've also been working on sadie banks photography like a mad woman. i haven't told many people this, but my goal for 2018 is to go full-time. i'm medium terrified, but mostly i am really excited for this & have seriously been working SO hard to be able to fill my schedule with sessions. i can't wait to be able to pursue my passion full-time! i'm trying to work with more bloggers & brands, so if you know any brands, companies &/or bloggers who are looking for a photographer, let me know!!! OR if you know anyone getting married in 2018 who needs a photographer, LET ME KNOW!! i can't wait for my 2018 brides, brands, bloggers & seniors! photography is my favorite thing because i get to work with the most incredible people, hear their stories & capture their memories. it really is the best thing in the world.

mackie is loving the salt lake life. he gets to go on walks a lot more & there are so many things for him to sniff. he loves being able to play in a backyard.

the last little announcement from our tiny family is that we are opening a clothing shop! we will be selling baby + kids clothes and could not be more excited! (2018 is going to be AWESOME for working from home!!!!) we are so excited about Little Loves because of how it can help families in similar situations as ours. Little Loves is so near & dear to my heart because i feel like it takes the sadness out of my mind when it comes to our infertility story. i truly hope that we can help families with Little Loves & can't wait for the shop to open on October 2!! it feels like Little Loves & photography is all i talk about these days, but that's because those things have become a very large portion of my life in recent weeks & i am so, so proud of them.

i say this a lot, but i really mean it. we are so, so, so grateful for the love, support & kindness that we receive from our friends & family. it means more than you know. so thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us in our dreams! we love you all so much!

summer mini session | nevada family photographer | arizona family photographer

halie & jason’s mini session was so fun! the mini shoot location was the garden in bunkerville, nevada! it's one of my favorite locations & the desert summer light is always SO perfect. i loved the way jason & halie played with their cute baby boy! the love in their family is so tangible & adorable. i loved watching the way their sweet babe just loved his parents. i just love their photos & i was so excited to be able to shoot halie & jason's family photos.

this practice helps me remember why i fell in love with my husband

i was writing a guest blog post for A Prioritized Marriage & she asked me to send a few photos of parker & me throughout our marriage. of course, i went back through all of our instagram & facebook posts.

as i was looking through all of our memories, i was reminded of the quiet moments where i fell in love with my husband while we were dating & of the moments where i continued to fall deeper in love with him after we were married. i was reminded of the adventures we went on while we were dating & the places we went to as newly-newlyweds. i remembered conversations we had & inside jokes that were made. i remembered the time that he helped me conquer one of my biggest fears while we hiked Angel's Landing in the snow. i remembered the times when he would show up to my apartment with donuts while we were dating. i remembered our road trips to nevada & the deep conversations that were shared on those trips. i remembered our wedding day; how freezing it was but how insanely happy i was to be marrying parker.

all of these memories were brought to the forefront of my mind within a 45 minute period. just from looking at pictures. so if you need to remember why you love your spouse or just want to remember so many happy memories, look back at old pictures. you won't be disappointed, promise.

mckay + ashlyn | summer anniversary session | arizona family photographer | utah family photographer

i met mckay on my lds mission & we quickly became good friends. when he asked me to take photos of him & his cute wife, ashlyn, i jumped on the chance! they were only in utah for three days, so we didn't have a ton of time, but we were able to fit in a session their second morning here & it was perfect!

for their anniversary session, we went to deer creek state park & roamed around the fisherman's trail just off the side of the highway. the views were beautiful & the water was so glassy. (if only we had had a boat!!!)

i can't wait to see where their love takes them in life! i'm so, so happy for ashlyn + mckay & had such a blast photographing them.
